Standards: : FCS-FNL-1. Define and demonstrate an understanding of the components of a nutritious diet by planning menus for different age groups using Dietary Guidelines for Americans, other consumer dietary recommendations including MyPlate, and the Exchange Lists for Meal Planning and Food Labels to plan menus.


Opening Warm-up AND/OR Activator (highlight one): Students will answer 3 questions from the chapter 4 test bank. [ 23, 28, 31]


Work Session: 1. Teacher will revisit Myplate.gov and show students how to create a Myplate Daily Food Plan. Teacher will discuss the one-week menu project.
-Students will generate his/her personal plan using Myplate.gov clicking on the subject Myplate Daily Food Plan by entering his/her age, gender, physical activity. Students will print the PDF version to plan a one week menu.

2. Media Center: Students will generate his/her personal plan using Myplate.gov clicking on the subject Myplate Daily Food Plan by entering his/her age, gender, physical activity. Students will print the PDF version to plan a one week menu.
-Students will use the textbook, cookbooks, internet, magazines to locate recipes/menu items.


Closing/Summarizer: List one new thing you learned about Myplate.gov.
