TEST Chapter 6 & 7: FACS

FACS students are having their first test this week: Blue day~Thursday, Sept 2nd
           White day~Friday, Sept 3rd

FACS~Sewing Project

Money and Order Form is due by September 8th.....They  can pay by cash, check or money order (made out to Pebblebrook High School)

FNW

They are working on a Food & Cultural Awareness Media/Technology project this week. They are researching different continents and countries to find out about their festivities, holidays, or food customs. They are working in groups of two to create a PowerPoint that will be shared with the class. This assignment is linked to the FCS~FNW 3 standard: Students will identify the factors that affect food choices and dietary quality.

Food, Nutrition, and Wellness

We are studying Food in your Life..the students are learning about "Food Supply".  We had a "comfort food" (junk food) 8-) buffet this week. They will work on a  Food & Cultural Awareness technology project the next two class meetings. This PowerPoint presentation will be shared with the class. The next chapter will be about Food Science and Technology.

FACS Pathways Essential

This week FACS students picked out their Haans Sewing Project from the catalog. They were given a parent letter and order form. The parent letter explains in detail about the sewing project. This project is an assessment under our Fashion Standard ( FCS-FPE-9). It is a mandatory assignment that is worth 30% of their final grade. The money is due September 7th and 8th; it can be paid either cash, money order, or check. Please make the check or money order out to Pebblebrook High School and put your child's name on the memo line. They will need to pay me in my room #205; I will provide them with a receipt. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email althea.cofer@cobbk12.org. We will begin working on the project mid-September.

FACS/FNW Classroom Rules/Expectations 2010~2011

Ms. Cofer’s Classroom Rules/Expectations




Directions: Students and parents should read, discuss, and sign at the bottom of this page to verify that you understand these rules/expectation. They will be discussed in class.
1. Be seated, quiet and ready to learn when the tardy bell rings. Tardiness is unacceptable!!
2. Excessive talking and disruptions will lead to a consequence.
3. Come to class prepared with pencil, pen, notebook paper, and 3-prong folder/binder.
4. Respect yourself, your classmates and your teacher. Disrespect is unacceptable.
5. Please remain in your assigned seat unless given permission to move.
6. Cell phones, IPods or any electronic devices are NOT PERMITTED during class time. (Please see student handbook
7. There will be no sleeping or head on desk during class time.
8. Participate in class discussions and complete all assignments for the day.
9. Profanity is not an acceptable language!! (Refer back to #4)
10. Your teacher will dismiss class rather than the bell.
11. Food and drinks are not permitted in class!! No eating or drinking in class!! Refrigerators are NOT for student use!! (No acceptations)
12. Bullying of any kind or name calling is not permitted!! (Please see student handbook)

General Announcement & Event....

~ Early Release: Wednesday, August 25th: Students will be released two hours earlier.
~ Open House is scheduled for Thursday, August 26th at 6pm.
~ Lockers will be given out in the coming week if the student brought back the three signed papers they were given in the last two weeks.

Food,Nutrition, and Wellness (FNW)

We are off to a new week. FNW students should be bringing in their signed syllabi and rules/expectations that they received last week. They should also be bringing in a 3~prong folder/notebook that will used to hold all of ther assignments.

This week we start discusing factors that affect food choices and dietary quality as it relates globally and locally. We will also be discussing factors of food science, food processing and reason why people eat food.

FACS~Pathways Essentials

We are starting a new week in FACS!! All students should be turning in their signed rules/expectations and syllabi. They also should be bringing in a 3~prong folder/notebook that will be used to hold all of their assignments.

This week we start discussing Understanding Families under the Early Childhood Education standard. Students will learn about varying family structures, family life cycle, and challenges/changes that occur in families.

Hello,
Welcome to a new school year at Pebblebrook High School 2010 ~ 2011.
This will be the blog spot to find out information about Family & Consumer Sciences (FACS): FACS Pathway Essentials and Food, Nutrition, and Wellness.
The first week of school we will be getting adjusted to the new class schedules, getting to class on time, and getting to know each other as teachers and students.

Your child was sent home with a parent letter, rules/expectations and syllabus. You need to review them with your child, sign and return. FACS students were told that they need to bring in a 3~prong folder/notebook for class it is MANDATORY. The folder will be used to hold ALL of their class work. It is due August 16th/17th. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
