2: Factors Affecting Fod Choices
2. Discuss: Bellwork: Culture-Read the prompt and answer
the student activity.
Teacher will introduce the new
chapter , EQ and revisit the standard.
3. Activator-
Choices in Context pg. 13-Students will read quotes about food choices and
identify each factor influencing each choice.
4. Students will complete Chapter 2
Concept Organizer “Factors affecting Food Choices”: Use the tree diagram to
identify three factors affecting food choices and there supporting concepts for
each.
5. Handout: Food Choice Connection
Activity C p. 15. Students will match terms with definitions from the chapter.
Then they will write mental connections called to mind by a list of foods.
Closing/Summarizer: . Students will write about
the best meal they have eaten. Describe the cuisine, who they ate with , and
other factors that made the meal enjoyable. *Teacher will ask: whether students
would be able to purchase the same meal in another country and which were
likely imported.

Opening Warm-up AND/OR Activator (highlight
one): Have each student survey one other student about their
favorite food. Whole class will compile the survey responses and we will
identify the top 10 favorite foods.
Work Session: 1.Origin of common
Foods: Discussion possible reasons why people choose to grow some crops and not
others? 2.Students will work with a partner to find a uncommon recipe with that
food item from a cookbook. *Share
responses*
3. First Word: students will write
the letters of the word CULTURE
vertically down the left side of the paper. The will identify items or concepts
to the vocabulary word that begins with each letter in the word CULTURE.
4.Teacher will explain the
directions, expectations, and rubric for Orgin of Common Food project. Q & A
