Warm Up: Extended Family: Describe a special relationship that you have with someone in your extended family.
Instructional Plan: 1. Fulfilling Family Rights and Responsiblilites: What Family Living Means handout, students will complete during whole group session give examples that illustrate ways families fulfill various rights and responsiblilities. Reinforcement Assignment
Topic 7-2 Balancing Family and Work
Set Induction: List 5 careers you feel would be especially satisfying to you.1. Student will read objectives and introductory paragraph
2. Family and Life Work handout, students will work with shoulder partner and will identify what they consider to be the positive and negative effects of work on family life and of family life on work. [p.203 TRG] Class discussion
Closing Summarizer: Do you think you are ready to start a family?
4th blockChapter 7 Family Challenges
Topic 7-1 Building Functional Families
Warm up:
Instructional Plan: Student will read objectives and introductory paragraph textbook p.184
2. Whole group reading p.184-187, Making and keeping families strong..students will use 7-point graphic organizer [cause and effect] and list one fact with each fact.
3. Reinforcement Assignment [TRG} p.195 TEEN ISSUES and PARENT ISSUES: Dived the whiteboard in half at the top of one side write TEEN ISSUES, and the other side PARENT ISSUES. Ask students to list issues they feel their parents don't understand about them and vice versa(parents). Class discussion on what they think is the reason behind the apparent lack of mutual understanding.
4. Enrich Activity: [TRG p.197]. Giving a Gift of Appreciation. This activity guides students to write words of appreciation to give a family member. After composing the words of appreciation students will create a greeting card and place the words of appreciation inside. Students will give their cards to the people whom they composed. Student volunteers will share.
Closing Summarizer: Agree or Disagree. It's important to show family members appreciation. [post it note}
