A message from SOUTH COBB HIGH SCHOOL
Good
Morning Eagle Family,
I
hope you had a great weekend. We are now in our final month of the 2019 –
2020 school year and will continue to provide you with South Cobb news and updates
regularly each week. Please see the following items below for your
information:
- Digital instruction and lessons will continue Monday
through Thursday each week for the remainder of this school year.
Fridays will remain days to catch up on schoolwork and reach out to
teachers for further assistance. The last day of school is still set
for May 20th, 2020.
- Just to provide clarity, diplomas were not distributed
during Cap & Gown pickup this past Friday. Some students ordered
and received commemorative souvenir plaques which were replicas of what
the official diplomas will look like. Official diplomas will not be
ready until at least next month, information for obtaining diplomas will
be sent accordingly. If you still need to order a graduation Cap
& Gown, it is not too late. Go to http://highschool.herffjones.com to
place your orders.
- Once yearbooks and all graduation cords have been
delivered to campus, plans for pickup of those items will be communicated
at that time.
- In accordance with public health guidance which
continues to limit large groups of people and to best prioritize student
and staff safety, Cobb Schools have postponed all in-person graduation
ceremonies originally scheduled for the month of May. While we do
not know what public health guidance will allow for over the next weeks
and months, we do know we WILL recognize and honor the graduating class of
2020 in a memorable way. Both virtual and physical graduation alternatives
are being considered at this time, and an update regarding such plans will be communicated
by June 1st, 2020.
- Quarantine
Buddy is
a student-created virtual mentorship program created by one of our
students to help younger students during this time. Please see
details on our website for more information, or go directly to: https://sites.google.com/view/quarantinebuddy/home.
- On Tuesday (5/5) from 10am – 12pm only, students can
come onto campus to return books and cleanout their main lockers and their
P.E. lockers. All students must enter from the bus port entrance off
Clay Road. Students will only be allowed to exit their vehicles and
enter the buildings if they are wearing masks. All safety practices
will be followed accordingly while on campus.
- We will continue partnering with the AMOS foundation
serving free sack lunches for students of all ages at Orange Hill Baptist
Church, Monday through Friday from 11am to 1pm. Lunches will
continue to be served through the end of this school year.
- Our bookkeeper is working diligently on student refunds
and will begin sending those out soon. It is a lengthy process, as
we want to make sure those expecting refunds are receiving the appropriate
amounts.
Please
continue practicing all safety measures such as social distancing and wearing
masks while out in public, to help flatten the curve. If you have any
questions or concerns, please feel free to email your child’s teachers or
school administration. Our teachers have gracefully adapted to this new
way of instruction, all while taking care of their own families and households
simultaneously. The teachers at THE South Cobb H.S. are absolutely the
best and are truly appreciated. Show your child’s teachers some love
during Teachers’ Appreciation Week this week. Have a great day and stay
safe!
Your
Principal Perry
