Standards: HUM-FNW-6. Investigate the health and nutrition requirements of individuals and families with special needs.
6.2: Determine the health and nutrition requirements for vegetarians and people with food allergens.

What is the difference between the vegetarian styles?


Opening Warm-up AND/OR Activator (highlight one):
Bellwork: Vegetarians-students will read the prompt and complete the student activity. *Share responses*

Activator: Youtube clip: Vegetarianism: Documentary Truth & Myths about Vegetarianism….List one thing that surprised about vegetarianism and one question.


Work Session:  Review reading food labels (worksheets)
 1. Whole group will discuss Chapter 13 reading guide p.185 (key concepts, main idea content vocabulary, academic vocabulary)
2. Students will complete wkbk page 94 Content Vocabulary ELA writing skills [read the word, predict the meaning, write the dictionary definition] Check.
3. Students will work on Challenges/Solutions Graphic Organizer with the textbook and Additional Activity worksheet p. 53 Who’s Eating What? and p.54 Vegetarian Nutrient Solutions.



Closing/Summarizer: If your doctor advised you to choose a vegetarian diet based on some health concerns which one would you choose and why?
