Instructional Plan:

1. Finishing checking Chapter 9 guided reading pg. 4-5 [Q&A]

2. Phytochemical activity: Finding Recipes ~ students [groups of 3] will look for 3 recipes that provide two or more of the phytochemcials listed in the text  as good sources of phytochemicals. Students will name the recipe, phytochemicals provided in the recipe, their food sources, and their potential health benefit. Share with the class

3. Topic 4 square Graphic Organizer: Water~1. Description of water 2. How does it affect everyday life. 3. 1 important term or concept about water 4. The most important thing we learned...

Closing Summarizer:  Brainstorm ideas specifically for teen athletes to increase water intake.

FNW: Students are hosting a "Nutritious Food Buffet" this week:

They brainstormed some "healthy" food choices from the six basic nutrients; they have studied the last 7 weeks in Unit 2. This will give them an chance to see that healthy foods can be "good"!!!

White day will have their Buffet: Wednesday, November 17th

Warm Up: Read TOTD's from last class meeting: List two factors that influence your clothing decisons when you are coming to school.

Instructional Plan: 1. Cloze Reading textbook p. 562 The Status of Clothes {Activity: conduct a class survey to find if people would date someone who doesn't dress neatly or wear popular clothing}

2. Finish checking Activity 1:

 Review PHS Dress Code

-Discuss Pros/Cons of school dress code as it relates to school uniform debate(groups of four) share views with the class

-Ask students to explain different ways that conformity and idividulity are shown with clothing.

3. Review physical needs pg. 532 : Worksheet p. 553 Physical Needs in Clothing Decisions: handout will reinforce student's understanding fo factors that influence physical needs for clothing & 554  Dressed for the Occasion worksheet:students are to write a description of appropriate clothing to wear for each occasions represented by the invitations.
