Chapter Launcher: Nutrition Newshound[p.142]: Students will imagine they are reporters investigating a rumor that pigs can fly. They will list names of people or organization they would contact, questions they would ask, and evidence they would to see in order to track down the truth. After students share their response, explain that they need to apply the same critical analysis to nutrition information.

Assignment (s) 1. Define 8 terms: Daily Value, Dietary Guidelines for Americans, dietary supplements, fraud, herbals, megadose, nutrient density, Nutriton Facts panel
    2. 7 point Graphic Organizer~ Summary of Dietary Guidelines for Americans [p.144]
    3. Create a Graphic Oranizer~ Students will read pages 143-152. The center box will be labeled "Nutrition Guidelines."
           There will be 4 sub-categories and mini-topics; students will list the approriate amount of facts per category/topic.
